
Vince Clarke was born at 3.7.60 in Basildon (Essex). In 1980 with his friend, Andy Fletcher, he has started to look for somebody to join their band. He had wrote all songs (except Martin's "Tora! Tora! Tora!" and "Big Muff" ) on Depeche Mode first album "Speak & Spell", but in spite of success, he has decided in autumn 1981 to leave DM. In 1982 he started new project called "Yazoo" with Alison "Alf" Moyet, as a singer. They did some hits like "Don't go !" and " Nobody's Diary". In 1983, with producer Eric C. Radcliffe and singer Feargal Sharkey, Vince is trying to make something new. The new band is getting the name " The Assembly". Actually, only one song - "Never Never" was nice and even has entered some charts. And then the biggest part of Vince's life - "Erasure". Vince and his new colleague, Andy Bell (who has worked as a butcher !), in 1985 are starting the biggest and very successfully pop-project. From than Vince has composed hundreds of beautiful songs.Vince lived in Amsterdam for a few years c.1990, but moved back to England in 1994. He likes Sci-Fi movies. He is devoted to analogue electronic instruments and music.
